Rainbow Reads: Pride Month Picks

It’s officially pride month and it’s time to do a roundup of my pride picks that release this year (2021). I love that there’s such a diversity of representation in Young Adult LGBTQIA+ books. Every year, it seems to get better, with more and more books with gay, lesbian, bi, trans, queer, intersexual and asexual characters. I even read a Middle Grade LGBT book (Thank A Lot, Universe) this year! This is in no way a comprehensive list, but here are some books I’ve read or plan to read in 2021!

Comics for People Who Don’t Like Comics

It’s almost impossible to walk into a movie theatre nowadays and not see a Super Hero movie emblazoned on the marquee.  The market is completely oversaturated with the latest Marvel and DC movies and doesn’t show any sign of stopping.  There were a select few that appealed to me – Wonderwoman and Black Panther, for instance.  But for the most part, it was hard to see myself reflected in the superhero universe.

Here are some of my favorite – female-led, diverse, LGBTQIA, and body-positive – comics and graphic novels.
