It’s definitely been a minute since I updated! I thought I’d have more free time come summer, and while that’s true, I underestimated how much I would just want to rest. I worked at my school summer camp last month, which was a blast, but also exhausting. My old car from 2003 also finally gave up, so I was on the hunt to lease something. I finally decided on a white Volkswagen Tiguan and I’ve been really enjoying it so far. Other than that, it’s been a relatively uneventful summer, hanging out with my friends, working on creative outlets, making and jarring jam, and catching up on my Goodreads challenge. It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? #IMWAYR
I had a nice relaxing weekend. It was my first weekend without homework in about six months, so it almost felt like a three-day weekend! I did a game night at my friend’s house on Friday and had some friends over Saturday evening. The rest of the weekend, I just read, rested, did some chores, and watched TV. It was a rainy weekend that was perfect for cozying up inside.

Hurricane Isaias rolled through the East coast last week, taking down lots of trees in our neighborhood and causing a ton of power outages. We were lucky to be spared from losing our power and suffered no real damage, unlike the storm last year that spirited our gazebo off. I’ve been busy keeping up with Momo (my new kitten), which has cut into my reading/writing time quite a bit.

It’s Monday once again! It’s been a fun week playing with my new kitten, Momo. She’s got a ton of energy this week and gets into loads of trouble, but she’s still adorable. Had some friends over on Thursday last week and actually ventured to the mall! (Just to the food court, but still). Was the first time in months I’ve had a good boba tea so I was in heaven. On to the books!

It’s Monday once more! I had a long tiring week, but I learned a lot! The New York Pitch Conference was moved online from March because of Covid-19, so I had 8-hour days of Zoom conferences Thursday-Sunday. I kind of have mixed emotions about everything right now, but I’m trying to remain positive and take everything as a lesson. I haven’t been reading as much this week…but managed to finish the book I started last week.

It’s Monday once again! The days have been flying by. Can’t believe we’re already halfway into June. I’m attending the Algonkian Writer’s Conference / New York Pitch Conference later in the week on Zoom sessions, rescheduled from March, so I’m really looking forward to that.
Phase II reopening is happening in my area, so today restaurants are rolling out outdoor seating and some retail stores and churches will be at partial capacity. Feels nice to be getting back to normality, though I’m still missing my public library.

Happy Monday once again! My birthday was this Saturday and I had a really nice birthday weekend. At work Saturday morning, I had cake and a round of Happy Birthdays. My mom and I had lobster for dinner. Sunday, I had a handful of friends over for a backyard barebecue – social distancing edition! It was really nice to see some friends I haven’t seen in months (other than on Zoom/Facetime). There was a little miscommunication though because we ended up with FOUR cakes! I guess there’s no such thing as too much cake.

Happy Monday and Happy Memorial Day if you live in the United States! Hope everyone had a good week. I’ve been trucking along on my Goodreads 2020 challenge – I’m at 35 books of 75. Doing Monday updates has been a good way to keep me accountable to my reading goals. Until I started posting on my blog with weekly reading updates, I never gave much thought to planning my reading. Though I always have an insurmountable TBR, I always end up reading what appeals to me in the moment. I still struggle with that and sometimes books take precedent if they are an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) for review or a library book with a return date, but it’s kind of cool to dedicate time to a book in advance. Do you plan your reads?
