It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? #IMWAYR

It’s definitely been a minute since I updated! I thought I’d have more free time come summer, and while that’s true, I underestimated how much I would just want to rest. I worked at my school summer camp last month, which was a blast, but also exhausting. My old car from 2003 also finally gave up, so I was on the hunt to lease something. I finally decided on a white Volkswagen Tiguan and I’ve been really enjoying it so far. Other than that, it’s been a relatively uneventful summer, hanging out with my friends, working on creative outlets, making and jarring jam, and catching up on my Goodreads challenge. How are all of you? What have you been up to this summer?

Top Ten Tuesday: Books On My Summer 2021 TBR

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s topic is “Books On My Summer 2021 TBR”.

There are so many good books coming out this summer! My focus hasn’t been the best lately, so I’m not sure how much reading I’ll get through. But here are a couple of books I’m looking forward to…

A Writer’s Life

Last year was a strange year. I was home from work for several months during the worst of the pandemic and thought I would get a lot of writing and editing done in that time. I definitely picked up some crafty hobbies, like miniature building, and worked a lot on my blog, but my novel felt like…work. Like, I needed to prove I was still a productive citizen of capitalism. And honestly, I think that period of time was a gift in some ways in that it allowed a lot of people to rest and reset. (While simultaneously revealing a lot of devastating structural flaws in our system of government.) At the end of the day, I’m not going to stress myself out over not enough work time put in. I managed to keep my mental health in a relatively good place and that’s really enough for me. I have been trying to put more of an effort into my writing and editing lately and thought I’d share some writerly memes that have made me laugh and kept me sane.

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? #IMWAYR

I had a nice relaxing weekend. It was my first weekend without homework in about six months, so it almost felt like a three-day weekend! I did a game night at my friend’s house on Friday and had some friends over Saturday evening. The rest of the weekend, I just read, rested, did some chores, and watched TV. It was a rainy weekend that was perfect for cozying up inside.

WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam over on Taking on a World of Words. Every week, you dedicate a post to the three W’s: What are you currently reading? What have you just finished reading? What are you going to read next?

I’m sorry I’ve been so lax on updating. It’s been ridiculously snowy here on the East coast, so I’ve been more than happy to stay indoors and read. I’ve also starting working on some miniatures to unwind after work. But mostly, I’ve been busy doing 60-70 hour weeks between work and school, which is not leaving a ton of time for blogging. But I’d love to hear from you guys! What are you reading? How are you doing? What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods?

Top Ten Tuesday: Book Titles that Would Make Great Song Titles

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s topic is “Book Titles that Would Make Great Song Titles”. This prompt was submitted by Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse. I thought it would be fun to pair the song titles with an artist and do a little twist on this tag.

October Wrap-Up

Happy November! Hope everyone had a nice Halloween weekend. I had some friends from my “pod” come over on Saturday to play games and eat pizza and we handed out candy to trick or treaters. On Friday, my school had a Halloween costume parade with our hybrid students and we gave them candy and prizes. Yesterday was a gloomy, rainy day, and I spent most of it sleeping and catching up on some housework. I can’t believe it’s already November!
