It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? #IMWAYR

I had a nice relaxing weekend. It was my first weekend without homework in about six months, so it almost felt like a three-day weekend! I did a game night at my friend’s house on Friday and had some friends over Saturday evening. The rest of the weekend, I just read, rested, did some chores, and watched TV. It was a rainy weekend that was perfect for cozying up inside.

WHAT I READ LAST WEEK:

The last book I finished was House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland. I already raved about this book in another post, but I loved how creepy it was and the twisty ending. I also just loved this writer’s prose and found it really enjoyable to read.

WHAT I’M READING NOW:

I’m about a quarter of the way into Folklorn by Angela Mi Young Hur. It’s a really interesting melding of magical realism, mental health, mythology, and identity. I’m really enjoying it so far.

WHAT I’M READING NEXT:

I took Soul Lanterns by Shaw Kuzki out of the library, so I’ll probably try to read this next. When I lived in Japan, I visited Hiroshima and it was hard not be emotional about the toll that the bombing took on the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This is a historical fiction book for kids about the lantern floating ceremony people do in remembrance every year.

What is everyone reading? Have you read or do you plan on reading any of these books? How was your weekend? Leave me a comment and…

Until next time,

  1. I keep hearing about Folklorn, so I might have to check that one out!

I wrapped up a lot of books over the weekend, so I’m trying to decide what to read next. Think I’m going to start The People We Meet on Vacation.

      1. Thank you Leigh, already on my goodreads can’t wait to pick it up! I’d recently finished Keiko Carter, it was such a unique read for me because I don’t often reach for contemporary middle grade, but it was so good! Happy May! 💐
