Come away, O human child!
The Stolen Child – W.B. Yeats
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.
Fae, fairies, fair folk…whatever you want to call them, are found across European folklore. Beautiful, ethereal and otherworldly in appearance, fae are known to play tricks on humans or to broker unfair deals. Their allure is undeniable, but once drawn in, they’ll toy with you like a cat with a mouse.
How could you incorporate different elements from these pictures into your writing about fae? How do you picture fae? Do they have mostly human features? Or do they look more like plants or flowers? How does their magic work? Where did they come from? Are they immortal? Have they ever fallen in love with humans? Why are their ears pointed?

I hope these pictures inspire some interesting writing/art/etc. Please leave me a link if you end up creating anything!
Until next time,

So beautiful. I want to ride with the ravens/crows. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
