Hope everyone had a great weekend! It was rainy here, so I spent a lot of time catching up on reading. Had a mix of good reads and disappointing ones, but I’m excited for a new week. I return to work on May 4th, so this is officially my last week in quarantine! (I’m going to make another post about that.)
I spent part of Saturday on Zoom for YallStayHome, where top YA authors talked about writing in quarantine, fantasy word building and other subjects. It was really fun and provided great inspiration, hearing some of my favorite authors (Melissa Albert, Francis Hardinge, Nicola Yoon, etc) talk about their writing process.
*Yallfest is a Young Adult book festival that started at Blue Bicycle Books in Charleston, NC and has since branched out to Santa Monica, CA with a sister festival Yallwest. Because of the quarantine, Yallwest became YallStayHome this year.
WHAT I READ LAST WEEK:
I was really disappointed with the Children of Blood and Bone sequel and nearly DNF’ed it (let me know if you want a longer review). Dragon Egg Princess was a delightful Middle Grade book and I continue to love the Heavy Vinyl graphic novel series, which reminds me of Empire Records.
WHAT I’M READING NOW:
WHAT I’M READING NEXT:
I’m really excited for Tomasz Jedrowski’s book Swimming in the Dark, which comes out tomorrow. I’m trying to read Aurora Rising so I’ll be ready when the sequel comes out. And I’ve been obsessed with watching My Brilliant Friend on HBO, so I’m excited to read the books.

How’s everyone else’s reading go? Any recommendations?
Stay Safe & Healthy,

My reading has been slow for a while now. Almost finished with Docile by KM Szpara, creeping into Permanent Record by Mary HK Choi. Glad you had a couple good books last week!

Hey Tina! How did you like Permanent Record? I’ve been besotted by the gorgeous cover for a while now…
